I’m a photo editor, but I need a resume to apply for editing jobs. Is there anything special I need in a photo editing resume? If so, what?

So I’m interested in the photo-editing business, and I was planning on using a photo editing website that I have to pay for. Am I allowed to use it for that purpose? Or do I have to give the website credit?

I’m really into drawing and I’m looking for a simple program that could turn my pencil sketches into digital pictures.

Also, I would like a program that edits photos. (Something greater than what Photobucket can do) I want to be able to edit colors and shapes and make photos look like this…

It would be AMAZING if there was a program that could do both of those things was less than $100.
Looked into Adobe Photoshop already. Too expensive.

Photoshop Elements is the cheaper Photoshop and will be exactly what you’re after. Also check out GIMP which is free and comparable to Elements however Elements has an easier UI and there’s much more compatibility with Elements compared to GIMP.

I am on Mac OS X. All I really want to do is to be able to cut images from one picture and paste into another (photoshop if you will). I have little use for any other photo editing applications aside from what I get from iphoto. I’ve tried GIMP and got frustrated with the interface.

Photoshop Elements might be worth a look. It’s made by Adobe, a more basic version of Photoshop but with many of the same features as in the full version of Photoshop but at a much reduced cost.

Check it out on Adobe’s website, you can also download a free trial version to see if it suits you.

I’ve just bought the Pentax K-R, not a real savvy photographer yet though. I need a good editing program to make my photos look nice – until I can get to a photo course that’ll show me how to take good pictures for real.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

depends what you want to do with it…

and if you have to post process all your photos to make them "look good" then perhaps you need to learn to take better photos…

With any photo editing program, how can the outline of an image be edited to be sharper? Or can it at all? When I try it, I only see a lot of pixelation.

You can use the unsharp mask tool in Photoshop to gain a little sharpness.

Pixelation, however is usually the result of enlarging an image larger than 100%

That you will need a program like Genuine Fractals. It is said to be able to extend to 500%

I notice that when I take digital camera shots in portrait mode and try and rotate them in photo editing software ( using Microsoft Photo Standard 9 for simple adjustments ), the subject become squat and unrealistically broader. The reason why I am rotating them is that they appear in my programme ‘on their side’.

Any advice on how best to deal with this please?

You can use either Microsoft Paint (mspaint) or Paint.NET (also by Microsoft). I would recommend using Paint.NET for greater control over jpg/jpeg format settings when saving, plus it offers a similar interface to mspaint but with more controls. There should be a single function from one of the menus for rotating, and this should do the job for you.

Alternatively, there is a program called GIMP.
