What plugin to use for a mailing list?

Hi, I run a site on wordpress and I am looking for a good plugin to integrate a side-bar widget mailing-list.
Can you recommend me a good, stable one please?

Are you looking to host your own mailing list? You better not, as you have to set your own IP address, MX, SPF, etc related to deliverability, which is still hard to attain unless you have special agreement with top email provider, say Yahoo and Google.
The number one thing you must consider about mailing list is deliverability. Ever think how your message will get through those spam filters?
The best simplest alternative is you use something like Feedburner, or if you want advanced mailing list feature use ones like Mailchimp or Aweber, then you can put a form on your sidebar to catch leads from your site.

Hi, I have a WordPress website for my non-for-profit group, and I am wondering if there is some sort of news plugin that allows to show articles that have certain tags in them, so articles related to our cause would show up. I don’t know if there is a universal one, but I am mainly interested in the Ottawa Citizen and the Kanata-Kourier Standard (Your Ottawa Region).

Yes there is a way. You can download the plugin you want to install in your local computer. The next thing you want to do is to download Filezilla or winscp. Find your ftp information and use this to login in Filezilla or winscp. On your left side, are all files stored in your local computer. On your right side are all files stored in your server. Go to your website folder, click public_html or htdocs, move in to wp-content->plugins. Drag and drop the folder in the plugins area.

Just grab any contact form. You can easily add an image upload, and rename fields to whatever you need.
