Are there any stars emitting light at a frequency that renders it invisible to us? "Black stars", iow?

Just curious. The electromagnetic spectrum is huge, the slice of it we can see quite small. Are there any objects which are stars as we know them, but emitting "light" that we can’t see? :-?

Stars shine by blackbody radiation. The equations of blackbody radiation dictate that, regardless of where an object’s peak emission frequency is (it is higher for hotter objects and can definitely be either lower or higher than the visible light range), hotter objects still emit more blackbody light in ALL frequencies than cooler objects, so you can’t make an object less visible by making it hotter. Every object in the Universe considered a true star (that is, it has naturally occurring nuclear fusion going on in its core as a result of heat and pressure) is hot enough that it emits enough light in the visible spectrum to be seen with a human eye. There are some objects, such as the Earth itself, which are so cool they do not emit enough blackbody radiation in the visible spectrum to be noticed by the human eye; if you were to put the Earth way out in intergalactic space where there is very little light to reflect off it, it would appear essentially black. Furthermore, a black dwarf star (not a true star, rather a degenerate stellar remnant resulting from a cooled white dwarf; however our universe is not old enough for any to have formed yet) could be this way as well, and a black hole with no gas nearby would also appear like this although it would be dense enough to bend light as well, possibly being noticed by its distorting effect on the background image.

How do you crop a layer in photoshop elements 7 that renders the cropped image as the entire remaining layer?

when I crop an image using the marquee tool and cntl, shift, "i", then delete, what I get is a cropped image that is attached to a surrounding layer of white space. My other image layers are only the size of the images themselves, without the attached white space.
The reset did appear to work. After the reset I also got a clean crop. Thank you!

I’ve never had this happen and just "experimented" by doing it a few times again with different settings in the Marque Tool Options bar. No matter what settings I used, I still got a clean "crop" (nothing but transparent) where the rest of the image used to be. From your question, I’m assuming you’re getting white where the deleted part of the image is.

All I can recommend is: click on the Marque Tool. Click on the little arrow up in the far left corner of the Options Bar. Click on Reset This Tool. I know this is going to insult you but the layer below the layer you’re cropping isn’t white, is it? Last question: Is the layer you’re working with and the image both jpg?

How come changing the file naming from DSC renders programs that determine shutter count useless?

It hasn’t stopped counting my shutter cycles and I use different prefix’s all the time.

Most recently I used

DRS
SPD
SFD
SSO
AAI for different shoots. It is part of my workflow.

When I take a look at the EXIF data on each file using the OPanda EXIF reader program (free), it still tells me now many shutter cycles I have on each camera

What camera and what model?

ap bio question. mutation that renders the regulatory gene of a irrepressible operon inactive?

A mutation that renders the regulatory gene of a repressible operon inactive would result in
A. continuous transcription of the structural genes.
B. inhibition of transcription of the structural genes.
C. irreversible binding of the repressor to the promoter.
D. no difference in transcription rate.

I would guess A.

If you would have a mutation in the repressible operon then there would be no repression. Hence, the transcription would keep on continuing.

What is meant by "renders" in this sentence?

——————–
Oil price volatility *renders* all the more difficult the interpretation of price signals, whether they are an indication of structural change or a reflection of temporary phenomena, and thereby affecting the ability to support longer-term market stability.

How far does abortion affect the uterus and renders infertility …what are the chances of concieving again ?

If the abortion occurred three times in a persons life using the suction method. If the scars really exist in the womb, what should be done to be able to concieve. ?
No i did not have complications, just nausea on same hour after abortion ! it was done by a professional but i have been trying to concieve since october last year and up till now i just get my normal period…..the man has a kid too so he is able to make babies—i have been pregnant b4 so what’s the matter ?

Hopefully.
Permanent damage was done and you could never concieve again.

If a nuclear explosion renders the area uninhabitable for a half life of 2,500 years?

Then why are Hiroshima and Nagasaki thriving metropolitan areas?

Half-life is not a measure of how long it takes for an area to become clean after exposure to radiation. It is the amount of time that it takes for a given sample of a radioactive element to decay to half its original mass.
Here’s how it works: what makes radioactive elements radioactive is that their nuclei (the centre of the atom) are so large that they have difficulty staying together. Eventually, the nucleus (singlular of nuclei) of a radioactive element breaks up, or decays. When this happens, several protons and neutrons (the particles that make up the nucleus) go flying off at arond the speed of light – these are what make up the radiation. What’s left over is an atom with fewer protons. Since the number of protons in the nucleus is what determines the type of atom, once a radioactive atom decays (gives off protons) it becomes an atom of a different (lighter) element, like lead. Half-life is the length of time it takes for half of any sample to decay in this manner.

So if it takes so long to decay, how are people living in Hiroshima today? Because you don’t have to wait for it all to decay for the radiation to go away. The residual radiation is caused mostly by tiny particles of leftover radioactive material from the bomb. This radioactive dust lingers behind, continually emitting radiation. However, given time and clean-up efforts, the radioactive materials can be largely removed and life can resume.

Don’t let that make you think that nuclear war wouldn’t be the end of the world. WWII saw 2 little atomic bombs over the course of several days. A modern nuclear war would involve hundreds or thousands of nuclear weapons detonating around the globe over the course of a few hours, each more powerful than the 2 dropped on Japan.

What’s the difference between vectors and renders in Photoshop?

seriously, i have no clue what the difference are. renders are pics with transparent background… so are vectors, right? o.o

Vector layers in Photoshop can be opened and edited in Illustrator, they can also be resized with no loss of quality. Once they are rasterized they become a flat image that can only be edited in photoshop.

Here is a good explanation of the difference between vector and bitmaps

Can anyone tell me the reason why this website i design in Dreamweaver cs4 renders so different in Internet E?

this is the websites http://www.towerofpraise.org please check it out in FireFox and also Internet Explorer to see the different mostly the Top Navigation and The Footer of the site please i need help thanks

It’s probably to do with the fact that your using an unordered list

take it out and test it
