What causes the odd shapes I can see when I apply pressure to my eyeballs?
When I close my eyes and press down on my eyelids, I see hundreds of what look like interlocking squares and assorted polygons, along with various colors swirling around. I guess the colors are just my optic nervous system being interrupted, but why the weird looking shapes?
If you press on your eyeballs like that, you can end up sort of moving/pushing on your optic nerve or mechanically triggering the cells in your retina. Nerves tend to malfunction when you squish them, so what you see is just how your brain happens to interpret the scrambled signals it receives (it’s essentially trying to process "brain static" that doesn’t really mean anything). It’s kind of like what happens when your arm or leg "falls asleep" after you’ve been sitting on it the wrong way; the disrupted nerve sends some scrambled signals, which gets interpreted as the tingling, pins-and-needles type feeling, except it’s with visual signals instead of touch or pain signals.
How many different shapes do Silly Bandz come in?
I want to know how many shapes and colors Silly Bandz come in.
I don’t know all of them.
But I know they come in all animals and are sold separately depending on the type.
(Wild, marine, etc…)
They also have shapes like Suns and Moons and fruits.
And there are cars which I have.
They come in all colors, as well as glow in the dark and tie dye
What are the names of the puzzles that use various shapes to form a picture?
We used them when I was in elementary school. You would have a picture on a card or piece of paper and a collection of plastic pieces in various geometric shapes that would piece together to form the picture. Any help?
Found it on my own. They are called tangrams. Anyone who wants best answer just be the first to say tangram lol
tangram lol

When did your toddler start recognizing shapes and colors?
I have a shape sorter for my 20 mo daughter and the only thing she recognizes out of it is the circle. I’ve tried to teach her the other shapes but she doesn’t quite get it. I also teach her colors but she doesn’t really know them either. Every now and then she’ll get one right. We have a book called The Color Kittens that she loves but I don’t think she actually knows which colors are which. I think she is just memorizing it.
She sounds like my daughter. Don’t worry, she’ll pick it up as long as you keep teaching her. My daughter knows the moon, star, circle and square. She gets her colors right occasionally.
How do i use my photoshop shapes that i have downloaded in photoshop?
Ive dowloaded shapes for my photoshop but am not sure how to use them in there. Help please.
If they are brushes, make sure you extract them to that file (C drive>program files>adobe>photoshop>presets>brushes>photoshop only) and then in photoshop, when you go to select your brush type, there’s a little arrow. Click that and click ‘load brushes’ and select the brushes you just downloaded.
Using a cookie cutter to make shapes out of a cake?
I want to bake a cake and then use cookie cutters to cut Halloween shapes out and serve them individually to my party guests. Should I use a 13×9 inch pan? Do I reduce the oven temperature or baking time? Any other suggestions?
Thanks!
Happy Halloween!
Use any sheet pan recipe in your cookbook and then use the cookie cutters as stencils. Cut around them with a long-bladed knife for nice, high cakes. Or, if you’d rather serve flatter cakes, then use your favorite sheet pan recipe in a larger pan than the recipe calls for and start checking for doneness with a toothpick after the surface starts to look dry.
How do I cut up a pineapple to be able to cut heart shapes out of it?
I want to help my kids make a fuit bouquet for daddy for valentines day (like the edible arrangement ones). I refuse to spend a ton of money on something I know I can do myself lol. BUT, I’m not sure how to cut a fresh whole pineapple so that I can use cookie cutters to make heart shapes. Does anyone know how the edible arrangements people do that? Or have an idea of a way that would work? Thanks!
Cut the top and bottom off to sit flat. Then cut the outer layer off in triangular fashion. Cut slivers to the thickness of your cutter staying away from the center. You can always use your cutter as a template and fine tune the cuts with your knife.
What accounts for the different shapes of pinecones?
Some cones have a scalelike construction while others are more spikey. Have these shapes evolved for specific reasons?
it is just the way that they grow
How can I cut clean (mostly un-frayed) shapes from cloth?
I’m trying to cut out several shapes for sewing onto a costume, and I don’t want the shapes to look poorly put together in the end. Any suggestions to keep the quality of the item up?
What I often do is trace the shape I want in reverse onto the paper side of Bondaweb. I then fuse this to the fabric I want to apply to the item and then cut it out. I can then fuse this to the item and sew round it, leaving a nice clean edge like these:
