Good tutorial, just to mention though, if you are using an older version of GIMP…

you can also create a path around the text by going to

Layer > Transparency > Alpha to Selection

I liked, it but when i got to the part when you shrink it by 8 px the path selection doesn’t just look gone, it actually completely disappears and it won’t even allow me to use things like feather, any shrink over 5 disappears for me. does it make any difference if i just skip that part?

I liked the pace, I do screencasts too and find many go to slow, you can pause the video if you need to but following a slow screencast is a pain.

BTW, are you chewing gum or putting your dentures in? Really, the sound of your voice was really annoying, too bad because everything else was great.
