What image formats can I use for transparent background?

I am running a forum and I want to add Rank Image for users. I would like to upload transparent image. I know PSD(Photoshop Document) but that is not accepted format on the forum. What other format can I use?

Thanks.

You can use transparent background FORMAT…..

    GIF and PNG.

GIF is the most used, but .PNG let’s you have multi-traspanersy.

I would use PNG it’s much better.

    go with GIF.

You could also use PNG but transparent PNG’s are not supported in earlier versions of IE, I think versions 6 and earlier.

What you can do is save the image as .gif and upload it to the web using http://www.photobucket.com and then add the image to your forum that way.

.PNG is the only one that doesn’t mess with the colors. Don’t use .psd though since you can’t upload it onto the internet or save it on a USB or something and open it on a computer that doesn’t have Photoshop
